Are You a Victim of Ransomware?
If so, do these 5 things right now:
- Disconnect your computer(s) or your entire network from the internet
- Contact your IT team to let them know what’s going on (or contact us, AZCOMP Technologies, if you don’t have a trusted IT partner yet)
- Contact your business insurance agent
- Contact your attorney
- Contact the FBI
Disconnect your computer(s) or your entire network from the internet:
This is simple. On the back of your computer, you will find an ethernet cable. Unplug this cable from your computer or the wall. If you don’t find an ethernet cable, then turn off your Wi-Fi. Do this for every computer that is infected.
If a lot of computers are infected, or if you’re just not sure which computers are infected, disconnect the internet cable from your modem.
Contact your IT team
Once you’ve disconnected from the internet, contact an IT professional. If you don’t already have a relationship with an IT professional for your business, or if your current IT team doesn’t feel comfortable with handling a ransomware event, AZCOMP can help!
Once you get your IT team involved, they’ll be able to assess the severity of the problem and start to formulate a plan for correcting the situation.
Ransomware Removal
AZCOMP can help with your ransomware attack.
Two separate issues need to be addressed to get your computers back to normal after a ransomware attack.
The first issue is restoring your encrypted data. The second issue is removing the ransomware from your computers and servers.
Data Restoration & Ransomware Removal
Ransomware encrypts your data. This means that you’re locked out of your data. The encrypted data will need to be restored, but this isn’t always possible.
Getting rid of ransomware, which would be to say that the malware doesn’t exist on your system or your computer any longer, is different than recovering your data. There are several ways to get rid of the ransomware and restore your system, but your data is encrypted, so you might not have any data when this process is done.
