Operations Have Changed, But Our Mission Remains the Same

We’re Facing Change Head-on and We Can Help You Face It, Too!

These days, people will be quick to tell you that the world is changing. And in many ways, there’s a lot of truth to that statement. The ripple effects of this new virus are far-reaching, causing people to adapt in ways that they’ve never had to consider before. AZCOMP is no exception to that. But behind the changes to how we do things, there’s something that remains the same: the reasons why we do things.

Our Mission as a Business is Identical to Yours.

We want to provide phenomenal service because we know that the well-being of many depends on it. We help medical professionals with their technology so they’re able to provide their patients with the medical services they need to stay healthy. When COVID-19 threatened to change the way our mission might be achieved, it was admittedly terrifying for everyone. But it’s been incredible to see that those changes haven’t gotten the best of us because the motivation behind what we do has remained untouched.

What we’ve discovered is that being productively collaborative is all about our willingness to communicate.

– Keven Cluff (General Manager)

Remote work can be a daunting prospect for businesses that are so collaborative. But what we’ve discovered is that being productively collaborative is all about our willingness to communicate. At AZCOMP, that willingness has not changed, no matter where each member of our team is located. Being dedicated to continued communication has allowed us to help our customers set up their own remote work systems and continue providing services to their patients.

When a medical office closes, it doesn’t mean patients can stop treatment or cancel consultations. There has to be a way for doctors to continue providing care even when they aren’t able to see their patients in person. Our team understood the importance of that fact from the moment the playing field changed, and we’ve taken on the responsibility of making sure medical professionals can still do the things their patients need them to do.

We’ve been helping offices set up telehealth services that allow doctors to continue “seeing” their patients and provide treatment plans. We’ve also helped practices set up systems so their internal communication can flourish. During this tumultuous time, no patient wants to feel like they’ve been forgotten about, and that’s why it’s been so important for medical offices to find a way to communicate en masse. Doing so may require the implementation of a whole new system, but if there’s one thing that all these scenarios have taught us, it’s that learning how to adapt may pave the way for exciting innovations in the future.

Our reason for wanting to help you hasn’t changed, no matter how much the world might be trying to change it.

– Keven Cluff (General Manager)

Throughout this journey, we’ve learned a lot of things we didn’t expect to learn about ourselves and our team. Going through a mental shift about the work you do, and going through it quickly is a challenge. But we’ve faced those challenges head-on and are ready to help you face them too. So, if you haven’t quite figured out how to adapt our office into a productive remote-work atmosphere or if you have new systems or software that you’d like to try, then don’t hesitate to reach out to us. That’s what we’re here for, just like before. Our reason for wanting to help you hasn’t changed, no matter how much the world might be trying to change it.

From Then to Now

A History of Collaboration and Care

We’ve Always Been Who We’ve Strived to Be

In March, AZCOMP celebrated 20 years as a company, and it’s been exciting to see us grow over that time. It began as a husband and wife team that pretty quickly added two additional employees. This team of four was doing its best to produce the work of 20 people. It seemed destined to succeed each and every year. Above all, the one thing that AZCOMP started with – and has continued to keep for 20 years – is its spirit of collaboration and care for what it does.

Loree Olsen, Customer Experience Manager, has been here from the beginning. Here is what she has to say about AZCOMP’s history of collaboration and care.

I’ve worn lots of hats during my time with AZCOMP. But back in 2001 when things were still just starting out, I was wearing a lot of those hats all at the same time, which can be expected with any new business. Having so many roles could have been an overwhelming prospect, but it actually didn’t feel that way. It was an exciting time full of possibilities that we always tried to take full advantage of. I attribute our success right from the start to having great leadership. Specifically, our owner always looked to outside sources for help in every area we weren’t experts in and always sought our advice from the leaders in our industry, continually striving to make us better and stronger in any way he could.

When you have leaders who invest everything they can right back into the company they’re trying to grow, you have the formula for success, and the rest of the team can’t help but jump on board.

– Loree Olsen

Then, somewhere down the road to growth, AZCOMP also realized it needed to define its true purpose. You might be thinking that’s something that should have been done from the beginning, and you’re probably right. Businesses are often formed with specific goals and purposes in mind. But when a business starts to grow and roles become more defined, things inevitably change. So it was necessary to sit down and take time to define what made us great, what made employees excited to come to work, what our clients loved most about us, and the vision we had for making a real difference in our clients’ lives. It was a pivotal time in our company’s history.

We sat down for a week and hashed things out. We talked about the work we did and what it meant for our clients, their families, and even our own families. Here’s what we concluded: When you work in the field of health care technology, you touch man more people than just the doctors’ offices where you implement software and systems. The job you do affects every person that patient has an impactful relationship with. That’s because the well-being of one person matters to more than just that person. The technology we provide ensures out clients can take care of patients to the best of their ability, protecting them from everything from drug interactions to early detection of disease. That patient has been our mother, our brother, our client, our friend. The work we help these offices do comes full circle at that point, and we’ve built a team that understands the importance and impact of that.

For us, it’s personal. That realization made our purpose crystal clear, everything we do day in and day out ultimately serves to “Empower small practices to deliver the BEST care.”

– Loree Olsen

This idea of growing and expanding upon who we are and who we’ve envisioned ourselves to be has never stopped since day one, over 20 years ago. I’ve seen it firsthand and played many different roles in many different departments during that time. For that reason, I have no doubt that we’ll continue down the path we’ve laid out for ourselves. So here’s to the next 20 years of “Delivering Phenomenal” to our clients so they can “Deliver Phenomenal” to their clients, too.

Are Your Medisoft Patient Statements Coming Out Easy to Read?

Medisoft Patient Statements:

How To Sort By Date of Service

We have gotten quite a few calls in our support department regarding the way that statements generate out of medisoft.

When printing a patient statement it is important to ensure that it is both easy to read and correct in the information that it provides.

By default, the Medisoft program is set to generate patient statements and show the dates of service in order by case as oppose to by date of service.

By not having the charges sorted by date of service, it can lead to confusion on the patient’s end when reviewing their statement.

In this quick Medisoft Video, we will be going over how to easily change the way that the dates appear on patient statements.

Set up your printer defaults for your EMR program in Lytec MD and Medisoft Clinical

AZCOMP Support Video: How to set up your printer defaults in Lytec MD and Medisoft Clinical

tips and tricksOne of the most common errors we see for Clinical or MD EMR/EHR systems is the printer default settings.  Each computer and each copy of EMR is generally set to go to a specific printer through the printer defaults section.  The system will tell you that there is a problem with printer defaults if a printer has been changed or if a printer is off-line among a few other reasons.  In this video we will show you how to check that or set it right the first time through.

Does the thought of the ICD-10 transition make you feel a little uneasy?

If you want want that uneasy feeling to go away, the best place to start is right here.

icd-10

Are you looking for useful tools and documentation that will help you and your practice be ready for ICD10?  I’m sure you are all aware that the deadline for implementing and transitioning to ICD-10 has been pushed off another year to October 1, 2015.  Even though it is still over a year away, getting yourself prepared starting right now might be one of the best favors you can do for yourself.  So if you are looking for information about how to get prepared for the transition – then here we go.

If you haven’t visited the CMS website www.roadto10.org, it would be a good idea to go there soon to see what they have to offer.  Let’s take a look at two different tools that they have.

Webcast Series

So far there are 4 different webcasts that have been published with topics like “Training and Preparation on the “Road to 10”, and Clinical Documentation and Coding on the “Road to 10”.  There is another one scheduled for next week on August 26th called Transitioning onto the ICD-10 On-Ramp.  One more webcast beyond that is also in planning called Testing on the “Road to 10”.

In your preparations for the transition to ICD-10, these tools could prove to be valuable for you so we recommend that you give them a look.

Build Your Action Plan

example of an ICD-10 action plan to get your practice ready for transition to icd-10

On this road to 10 site, there is also a section that will help you build an action plan for your practice.  After you enter in your own information about the size of your practice and what sort of technology you are using, you tell the tool what stage of ICD-10 readiness you are in.  So if you are just in the planning stages, after you enter that in, a downloadable action plan will be generated for your use.

Here is a screen shot of what the plan overview looks like.

In that overview there are 5 different sections you need to focus on to getting ready for the transition.  Section 1: Plan Your Journey.   Section 2: Train Your Team.  Section 3: Update Your Processes.  Section 4: Engage Your Vendors & Payers.  Section 5: Test Your Systems and Processes.  In the action plan from the CMS website, each one of these sections has detailed information for you to review, tools provided and action steps defined for you to take to get ready.

If you are looking for resources to help you get ready then by all means, utilize these tools in your practice so that you will be ready when the time comes.  If you haven’t even thought about what it is going to take to get ready, then it is time to start thinking about it and this is where you can start.

Best Laid Plans

Sometimes the best laid plans quickly end up in shambles and that can be frustrating.  If you find yourself trying to get prepared for the ICD-10 transition and you keep getting stuck…we can help!

AZCOMP has some of the best trainers, educators and implementer’s in the country when it comes to helping small practices achieve success with transition and change and getting plans executed.  If you are feeling stuck and like you are not making any progress then give us a call at 888.799.4777.  We can help you get un-stuck and headed in the right direction.

What are you doing that is working?  What have you tried that others might want to avoid because it didn’t help you?  Share your successes and failures in the comments below so that we can all learn together.
