How to Copy Data from One Practice to Another

How do I get all of my information transferred over from one practice to another?

If you have recently created a new practice in your Medisoft program, most likely the items you use the most are: Diagnosis Codes or Insurance information. Since you would need this in a new practice, this is the easiest way in your Medisoft program to copy this data over from one practice to another.

How to Fix Medisoft Error 6420

Why did this ‘Data Files Not Found’ or ‘Data Path Error’ message pop up on my screen?

One of the most common calls we receive in our support department is that a customer is receiving a message on their Medisoft program stating ‘Data Files Not Found’ or ‘Data Path Error.’ You might even look into more on your own, and notice the details show a ‘6420 Error.’ If you have general working knowledge of a computer, this video will be super simple for you to be able to fix this error on your own. Following all of these steps will help you, but know where your server is at prior to watching, to help you be up and running in no time.

In layman’s terms, a 6420 error is notifying you that the workstation cannot connect to the data on the server.

If there is a connection issue of any kind, between workstation and the server, this error will occur. There could be many more ways this error comes up, but this video highlights two of the most common reasons:

  1. The Advantage Program is not turned on
  2. The IP Address on the server has been updated

Medisoft Training – How to Add a Late Payment Charge in Medisoft

Learn How To Add A Late Payment Charge in Medisoft by Using the Billing Charges Feature

If you want to charge a patient a billing fee, or an interest charge for being late on their payment to you, you can do that in Medisoft by using the “Billing Charges” feature, and we’ll show you how to do it in this video.

Some practices will charge a flat fee of maybe $10.00 or something like that if a patient is late on their payment. Others might like to add a percentage of the amount owed. In either case, when the patient is responsible for any amount and you send them a statement, or a bill, you can add a billing fee or a late payment fee to the next statement that you send them.

This 10 minute video will show you how to get this set up in Medisoft, and then will show you how to add the charges to their account so you can send them a new statement with the charge added.

How to Disable Medisoft Mobile To Free Up A User License

If you are out of user licenses, you can temporarily disable the mobile application to free up a user license.

When you are running the Medisoft Mobile Application, it is taking up one of your user licenses. If you get an error saying that you have “too many users logged in”, you could disable the mobile app if you are not using it at the time.

This video will show you how to disable the mobile app when needed and restart the mobile app as well.

* Note: This fix is for Network Professional Versions of Medisoft and changing of the service is something that will need to be done on the server computer

You can also make it so that the app starts up automatically when you log-in to Medisoft, or make it so that you have to manually start it for only the times when you need to use it.

When logging in to Medisoft, if you ever see the error that says there’s too many users logged on, it could be a service that’s running. Simply click on your Windows button, type in the word services.msc, and hit enter. Under the list of services we’re going to look for McKesson MSL mobile API server.

If it’s running, status running, then that’s taking up one license. If you’re not using the mobile service by Medisoft, it’s safe to go ahead and disable this.

You can do this by stopping the service, right click and stop, and then right click, go to properties, and make sure this is on manual, not automatic. Either manual or disabled will work. Next time you start Windows it won’t start up automatically. You can close out of the services and then try logging on again.
