Streamline Diagnosis Code Selection with New Customizable Settings

Efficient use of Medisoft’s features can enhance workflow and reduce manual adjustments. One such feature is the diagnosis code pointer settings, which allow users to control how diagnosis codes are applied in the transaction entry screen.

Configuring Diagnosis Code Pointer Settings

To access and modify these settings:

• Navigate to the File menu in Medisoft.
• Select Program Options from the top left corner.
• Under the Data Entry tab, locate the Number of Diagnosis setting.
• Adjust the number of diagnosis fields that appear in the transaction entry screen and patient chart.

New Diagnosis Code Pointer Options

Medisoft now provides three options for setting diagnosis code pointers:

1. Check All – Automatically assigns diagnosis code pointers to all available diagnosis codes.
2. Check First – Selects only the primary diagnosis code as the default pointer.
3. Check None – Leaves all pointer fields blank, allowing manual selection.

These settings help users streamline data entry by reducing unnecessary steps. For instance, if Check First is enabled, only the primary diagnosis code will be selected automatically, preventing the need to manually deselect extra codes.

Applying the Settings in Practice

Once configured, these settings take effect when adding a charge line to a patient’s record. Depending on the selection:

• Check All will mark all available diagnosis codes.
• Check First will apply only the primary diagnosis code pointer.
• Check None will leave all fields blank for manual entry.

This update simplifies workflow efficiency by eliminating extra steps and ensuring accurate coding practices.
