PowerPoint Slides Slowing You Down? Here’s How Microsoft Copilot Is Changing the Game

- AZCOMP Technologies - AZCOMP Technologies

It can be so frustrating to spend hours building presentation slides. You’ve got great content written, but turning that into a clear, professional-looking PowerPoint? That’s where things can slow to a crawl.

We’ve been there – copying and pasting content, adjusting text boxes, trying to make layouts and fonts match. It’s tedious and time-consuming, especially when your to-do list is already packed.

That’s why we’re excited about a new Microsoft Copilot update that’s going to save a lot of people a lot of time.

Copilot can now generate individual PowerPoint slides directly from a Word document. You can take a section or even the full document and have it turned into an editable slide in seconds. It’s fast, it’s accurate, and it frees your team to focus on refining the message, not fighting with formatting.

What is Microsoft Copilot?

If you haven’t used Copilot yet, it’s Microsoft’s built-in AI assistant for tools like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. It understands what you’re trying to accomplish and helps get you there faster.

With this latest update, you can highlight a portion of your Word doc and ask Copilot to create a new slide. The result is a clean, professional starting point that’s ready to edit and present.

No more bouncing between apps. No more worrying about whether your bullet points are aligned. Just efficient, streamlined presentation building.

Why This Matters to Our Clients?

For many of the businesses we work with, presentations are a regular part of operations – whether it’s reporting to stakeholders, training staff, pitching services, or planning quarterly goals.

The reality is, building those presentations can be a major time sink. And when you’re running a business, every minute counts.

That’s why we’re encouraging our clients to explore how Copilot can improve the way they work. It’s not just about automation – it’s about giving your team time back to focus on what matters.

Try It for Yourself

If your business is already using Microsoft 365 and you have Copilot enabled, you can use this feature right now. Just make sure your Office apps are up to date.

In PowerPoint, look under the Home tab for “New Slide with Copilot” or click the Copilot icon and choose “Add a slide.” From there, Copilot will walk you through the rest.

While it doesn’t yet support custom branding like background images or company colors, it gets you 80% of the way there in a fraction of the time. Then your team can jump in and finish strong.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly does Copilot do in PowerPoint, and how does it save time?

A: At AZCOMP, we’ve seen how Copilot cuts slide creation time significantly. Copilot can take written content from a Word document and generate structured PowerPoint slides that follow best practices for readability and design. It handles formatting, layout, and organization automatically – so your team can focus on refining the message, not building slides from scratch.

Is this feature available to everyone using Microsoft 365?

A: Not yet. To access this functionality, your Microsoft 365 subscription must include Copilot, which is currently only available for Microsoft 365 E3 or E5 with Copilot licenses added. As your IT partner, AZCOMP can help you determine if you’re eligible and assist with licensing upgrades, implementation, and training.

Will Copilot automatically match our brand colors and slide templates?

A: Currently, Copilot creates slides using standard PowerPoint formatting. It doesn’t yet pull from your saved templates or brand guidelines. However, we help our clients create branded PowerPoint templates that can be applied with one click after Copilot generates the initial slides – so the output still reflects your business identity.

How secure is it to use Copilot with our internal documents?

A: Security is a top concern for all the businesses we support. Copilot operates within Microsoft’s secure cloud infrastructure, respecting your organization’s data boundaries and compliance settings. At AZCOMP, we ensure Microsoft 365 tenants are properly configured to protect sensitive data while using AI tools like Copilot.

Can Copilot be used with older Word documents or only new ones?

A: Copilot works with any .docx file, regardless of when it was created. What matters most is the document structure. Clear headings, bullet points, and section breaks help Copilot generate cleaner, more accurate slides. If needed, our team can guide you on best practices for preparing source documents to optimize results.

What types of businesses benefit most from this feature?

A; From our experience, Arizona businesses in healthcare, professional services, construction, and education are getting strong results. Anyone who routinely presents reports, proposals, training materials, or strategic updates will benefit. If you’re creating more than one presentation per month, Copilot can save hours of work.

What are some creative ways our team can use this feature beyond basic slides?
A: We’ve seen clients use Copilot to turn SOPs (standard operating procedures), onboarding documents, and project outlines into internal training decks. Others are using it to generate client-facing summaries from long reports. Our team can help you brainstorm specific use cases based on your business processes.

How can AZCOMP help our business get the most from Copilot and Microsoft 365?

A: AZCOMP does more than just IT support – we act as your strategic Microsoft partner. We help businesses across Arizona with Microsoft 365 optimization, license management, user training, Copilot rollout, and ongoing support. If you’re unsure how to unlock these tools or want to make sure you’re using them securely and efficiently, we’re here to help you every step of the way.
