New Password & Registration Requirements in Medisoft

*****Alert – Read before attempting to log in to v26, or v27*******

In this post, we are going to address 2 separate issues associated with logging into Medisoft v26, or v27 for the first time.

  1. There have been password enhancements for logging into Medisoft.
  2. There have been changes in the product registration process.

Please read this entire post before trying to log in to Medisoft version 26+.

Password Enhancement Information

Please read this carefully and also watch the short video we put together to for further explanation.

We’re going to break this down into 2 separate groups of people. Group 1: those that are upgrading to v26+ from a previous version and already have a username and password. Group 2: those that have never used Medisoft before and are establishing a new account.

Group 1: Those that are upgrading to v26+ from a previous version and already have a username and password.

After you’ve installed your v26+ upgrade, when you log in for the first time, you’ll be prompted to enter your username and your current password. You must enter your current password in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS!

If your current password is 8 characters or longer, you will be able to log in as normal and you won’t be required to make any changes to your password. If you do not change your password, it is stored in Medisoft with ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, and you will need to type your password in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS each time you log in. You may change your password though if you’d like. Instructions for changing your password are shown in the video below.

If your current password is less than 8 characters, after you log in for the first time using ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, you will be prompted to create a new password.

When you click the OK button, the Medisoft Login screen will open so you can change your password. On this screen, you will need to enter your current/old password using ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. Then enter a new password twice.

Create a new password that is at least 8 characters long. You can use any combination of lower case or upper case alpha characters, numbers, and special characters. The new password is case-sensitive. Numbers or special characters are allowed but not required. 8 characters are the minimum but can be longer.

Note 1: if your password is already at least 8 characters long, you do not need to change it. However, you will need to continue to enter your password with ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, since that is how prior passwords were stored.

Note 2: if you had no password, or if you had no users created at all, or if you had no users with an Access Level 1, then Medisoft will automatically create a new system administrator user for you during the conversion. The new system administrator user will have a login name of SYSTEM and the Password of MEDISOFT1.

Note 3: for more details, read the version 26 release notes on page 3 under the Enhanced Security section.

Group 2: Those that have never used Medisoft before and are establishing a new account.

Basic security in Medisoft is practice-based, with each practice having various users and groups. Multiple practices require security setup for each database. Setting up security is a two-step process:

  1. Create users, giving them a login name, password, and access level (1 to 5). The access level determines which areas of the practice a user can access. Level 1 users have the most access. Level 5 users have the least access. When you create a new practice, a system/administrator user with a password with access level of 1 (all access) is automatically created for you. The user name for this password is SYSTEM and the password is MEDISOFT1 (all capital letters). Use these credentials to set up others users with user names and passwords. In addition, be sure to create a personal administrative password with access level of 1. Once this is created, eMDs recommends that you delete the automatically-created system password.
  2. Assign permissions to users, using the five access levels.

For more details, read the version 26 release notes on page 3 under the Enhanced Security section.

Product Registration/Activation

There is an updated Account Registration screen that is new in Medisoft v26+.

When you get to the Account Registration screen, enter the Customer Account ID and Customer Name exactly the way AZCOMP gave it to you via email. Once this is done, you can use CGM MEDISOFT.

Under the new licensing model, the software may only be installed on one server. If the software is installed on additional servers, an error message will appear informing you that the customer is already registered, and it will not be functional. If you need to install the program on additional servers, please contact us so we can help you through this situation.

Account Registration Process Troubleshooting

If you receive the following error that the SalesForce account is already registered:

Then, check for a firewall or router that may be blocking some of the Platform Services APIs. The following must all be allowed:

  • identity.emdscloud.com
  • liscensing.emdscloud.com
  • terminology.emdscloud.com
  • eligibilitybenefits.emdscloud.com
  • ppsmobile.emds.com
  • api.emdscloud.com
