A Practical Guide To Enhancing Efficiency
Medisoft’s Multi-Link Codes feature is designed to help users streamline data entry by grouping commonly used procedure codes together. This allows billers to enter multiple codes at once, reducing the time spent manually inputting charges.
Setting Up Multi-Link Codes
To configure Multi-Link Codes, navigate to the List Menu and select Multi-Link Codes. You can either edit an existing code or create a new one using the New button in the bottom left corner. Each
Multi-Link Code requires:
- A shortcut code for quick selection.
- A description to categorize the code group.
- Diagnosis codes that will automatically be applied to all included procedure
codes. - A list of procedure codes that will populate when the Multi-Link Code is
used. - Optional default settings for units, modifiers, and diagnosis code pointers.
The new updates to this feature now allow users to assign diagnosis codes, units, modifiers, and pointers directly within the Multi-Link Code setup, making the process even more efficient.
Using Multi-Link Codes in Transaction Entry
To apply a Multi-Link Code during transaction entry:
- Click on the Multi-Link button in the transaction entry screen.
- Select the desired Multi-Link Code.
- Enter the date of service.
- Click Create to automatically populate the procedure codes, diagnosis codes, and any
assigned settings.
For example, if a provider regularly performs a diabetes screening, a Multi-Link Code can be created to group all necessary procedure codes under one selection. This ensures that all relevant charges are
applied consistently and efficiently.

The ability to pre-define diagnosis codes, pointers, and modifiers within Multi-Link Codes simplifies repetitive data entry tasks. By utilizing this feature, billers and medical office staff can significantly
