HIPPA Notice for Windows XP Users and Windows Server 2003
You are probably all aware now that this past April, Microsoft stopped creating updates for Windows XP. Any computer with a Windows XP operating system that is on a network used to access protected health information will be in violation of the Health Insurance Portability and Account Act (HIPAA) and non-compliant with federal Meaningful Use requirements. HIPAA violations can cost tens of thousands of dollars for every found violation.
Also, Windows Server 2003 will no longer be updated after July 2015. Any healthcare provider using Windows Server 2003 after the updates cease may be in violation of HIPAA and open for cyber attack.
Note: Practice Partner version 11 must run on Windows Server 2008 or later.
