Mastering Medisoft: 3 New Features for Streamlined Practice Management with eMEDIX Integration

Explore Medisoft’s Latest Innovations: Self-Pay Estimates, EMR Transaction Efficiency, and Integrated Payment Processing with eMEDIX

Medisoft continues to improve the efficiency and flexibility of practice management workflows. In addition to the key updates already discussed in previous blog posts, such as customizable charge line items and diagnosis code modifications, there are three more practical features worth highlighting. Two of these are optional add-ons that integrate with eMDs/eMEDIX services, while the third is a built-in functionality enhancement.

1. Self-Pay Patient Responsibility Estimates (eMEDIX Add-On)

Previously available only for insured patients, the Patient Responsibility Estimate tool now supports self-pay cases. This feature allows providers to generate an itemized cost estimate for patients without insurance. It is ideal for practices like surgery centers or chiropractors that frequently plan services in advance.

Key details:

• Customizable patient messages can be configured in the Program Options under the “eMEDIX Estimate” tab.
• Users can enter upcoming procedure codes, units, and charges in the patient case file and generate a print-ready estimate letter.
• The tool requires activation through eMEDIX and appears as a “Patient Responsibility Estimate” button in the case window.

2. Bulk Deletion in Unprocessed EMR Transactions

For practices using Medisoft with an integrated EMR, managing imported transactions is now more efficient. The updated “Unprocessed EMR Charges” window allows multiple transactions to be selected and deleted at once. Previously, this could only be done one entry at a time.

How it works:

• Access via Activities > Unprocessed EMR Charges.
• Hold the Ctrl key to select multiple lines.
• Right-click and choose “Delete Flagged Records” to remove selected items in bulk.

This small but impactful change improves workflow efficiency, especially for practices that handle a high volume of EMR-generated data.

3. Integrated Payment Processing via CGM Pay (Add-On)

Medisoft now supports CGM Pay, a tool that enables credit card and ACH (bank account) payment processing directly within the software. Partnered with Global Payments, CGM Pay simplifies point-of-service collections and supports recurring payments.

Key features:

• A new CGM Pay button is available in the transaction entry, deposit entry, and appointment windows.
• Users can process payments from these screens and immediately generate receipts.
• A CGM Pay Dashboard offers features like saving payment methods, setting up recurring payments, and reviewing transaction history.

This integration helps streamline patient collections and enables practices to manage payments without needing external systems.
