What is a Medisoft VAR?
A Medisoft Reseller is also known as a VAR or a Value Added Reseller. McKesson highly recommends working with a reputable VAR because in their experience they have found that customer satisfaction is higher and customers are more loyal when they have someone local to assist them with more than just purchasing the software. The value that we add is our ability to provide onsite service, personalized training, hardware & networking services, and support. We can also couple you with add-on products and services that Medisoft may not offer. In other words, we offer more than just software, we provide the complete package.
Many people have the misunderstanding that because AZCOMP isn’t Medisoft direct that they are going to pay more for the software. We are not a middle man that inflates the software price. As a Reseller, AZCOMP is an independent sales agent for Medisoft Software. Medisoft pays us a commission for sales by giving us a discount on the product we sell. As a result, you are not paying extra for our service. You will find that our software prices are never higher than buying direct, in fact you will often spend less with our bundled products and services packages.
Although Medisoft recommends using it’s VAR channel, it is important to remember that all VARs are not equal. The company you choose will be an important factor in determining your success, and should be considered as a long-term partner. Before selecting a VAR you should consider the following:
Is this company well established?
The last thing you want to happen is that you buy from someone that either doesn’t have enough experience and/or man-power to get you the answers you need when you need them. Or to find that you were lured into an offering that included severely discounted products, or the promise of free services only to find out the services are worth the price you paid for them (nothing), or that the company went out of business because they weren’t charging enough to stay afloat.
Besides the number of years in business, one of the best ways to tell how established a company is, is whether or not they have their own dedicated support team, onsite team, trainers, and sales reps. This is an indicator that the company has experience, will be available when you need them, and has enough volume that it isn’t going to be closing shop. If only one or two people are trying to fill all these roles, one must assume that either their client base is small enough that they can be the sales person, the installer, the trainer, and the support technician; or that they are busy taking care of only one of their roles (usually selling) while neglecting the others.

What is the VAR’s Medisoft Ranking?
With over 200 Medisoft resellers in the nation there are a lot of VARs to choose from. Luckily, Medisoft has developed a ranking system that will help you to determine the level of experience and expertise the reseller has to offer. This ranking system is based off of number of software sales, product certification, and customer satisfaction. Starting from lowest to highest the ranking levels are:
- Silver- Minimal requirements, resellers can qualify with as little as 5 customers, Silver VARs represent 69% of Medisoft resellers.
- Gold- 9% of resellers
- Platinum- 18% of resellers
- Pinnacle- With the most strenuous requirements, only 4% of Medisoft resellers have ever reached Pinnacle status. And AZCOMP is the only reseller that has ever reached pinnacle for both Medisoft and Lytec!
- Diamond- This ranking was added in 2009 and less than 5 resellers in the nation have achieved this status. AZCOMP has been a diamond reseller since 2009.
