Once you set the ICD-10 date to October 1, 2015 in the program, you can start using ICD-10 codes right now! Then, when you submit your real claims, your ICD-10 codes you used will get converted back to the ICD-9 code, and your claim will be submitted using the ICD-9 codes.
How Do I Submit Test Claims That Have ICD-10 Codes?
First, you have to put the program into ‘test’ mode.
Second, you have to coordinate with your clearinghouse about what kind of programs they are running for testing.
Third, you need to submit your test claims to your clearininghouse. But beyond that, you also need to just start using all of the ICD-10 features, and start coding in ICD-10. Do this now while you still have time to fumble around a little bit.
