David Perez, CIO of Eisenhower Medical Center shares how they came to the decision to partner with an EMR company. This gives all affiliated physicians several HUGE advantages- They have a reputable software that they can trust (Medisoft Clinical, Lytec MD, or Practice Partner), there is a local company- to install, train, and support the software (AZCOMP), and Eisenhower has agreed to pay for a portion of the software and host the software in their new data center.

Ivor Nazareth, MD a Neurologist at Eisenhower Medical Center since 1975 presents Practice Partner EMR (this is the same electronic medical record used in Medisoft Clinical and Lytec MD) Shares a brief overview of how technology has progressed in the medical world. Dr Nazareth presents how he typically uses the software- giving a demo of the chart- progress notes, prescriptions, labs, order tree, dashboard and more. Dr Nazareth was previously using a transcriptionist, but he now uses the speech recognition with a dictaphone and dragon naturally speaking. This saves him ~$3,500 a month and he has all the information immediately and no longer has to review the transcriptions or wait on them. Because of the increase in efficiency he can now see 12 patients a day instead of 8 (33% more patients every day)! Dr Nazareth shares some insider tips on implementing an EMR.
